BEFORE Renovating

A family from Melbourne recently purchased their dream holiday home situated directly across from the beach in Sorrento, a beautiful village located on the Mornington Peninsula of Victoria. The couple were looking for a place they could go to spend the summer holidays with their young children. 

 

The home was in great condition as the previous owners had renovated the kitchen and all the bathrooms in the property. The wife reached out to us at Master Renovations Melbourne because she wanted to upgrade the existing European style laundry. She felt it looked outdated and plain compared to the rest of the home renovations of the property and lacked the storage space necessary for the family of four.

The Laundry Renovation Process

During our site inspection we met with the wife to discuss her vision for the laundry space. The existing laundry was designed as a European laundry, this is a laundry that is concealed in a cupboard area usually behind bifold doors. It is sometimes referred to as a hidden laundry and is a great way to make use of minimal space efficiently if your property doesn’t have the space or you chose not to have a dedicated full-sized laundry room.

 

The client wanted to keep the European style setting of the laundry, create more storage and add contemporary design tiles in keeping with the rest of the property. The lack of storage was her primary concern because of their two young children and as a holiday home they would be going to the beach often. 

 

We began by stripping out the entire laundry creating a blank canvas to redesign a new cabinetry layout. The design utilises the space to create plenty of storage and fit a suitable sized washing machine in place. The clients selected the tiles and colour scheme from the Beaumont Tiles laundry tile range to match the bathrooms.

AFTER Renovation

The Melbourne family were extremely happy with their new holiday home laundry. The completed laundry renovation blends into the design aesthetic of the rest of the property with an easy to clean, contemporary finish and has created ample storage space that caters for their family holidays!
